Summary

Draft — Tentative. Approximately 2028-01-07 to 2028-02-05: stop in Kyoto on the journey south from Sapporo, then make Osaka a base for everyday life, work, food, neighbourhood exploration, and occasional Kansai excursions. The working allocation is roughly one week in Kyoto (2028-01-07 to 2028-01-14) followed by about three weeks in Osaka (2028-01-14 to 2028-02-05); these internal dates remain tentative. This replaces the longer Osaka stay and moves Kyoto out of the former May–June chapter. Document review and approval are pending.

Dates use local Japan calendar dates. ~ means approximate. Overnight travel and transfer times remain TBD. The internal Kyoto / Osaka boundary is provisionally 2028-01-14; confirm the split before booking.

Expected stay

Tentative: Kyoto first, provisionally January 7–14, then Osaka through approximately February 5. Use Osaka for work, neighbourhood exploration, food, and occasional Kansai excursions. Housing, night allocations, activities, and work arrangements remain TBD.

Budget

Planned expenditure total, housing and fees, food, local movement, sightseeing, owned inter-chapter transfers, other costs, contingency, refundable deposits, payment timing, cash needed, and expected income: TBD.

Use the trip-wide allowances as a planning envelope. Fixed planning exchange rate: €1 = ¥160; retain unrounded calculations and display converted EUR to the nearest €10. No route or housing quote is established.

Arrival

Arrival from Sapporo: the northern chapter's outbound record owns and budgets the transfer to Kyoto. Exclude that cost here. Route, mode, fare, luggage, and timing remain TBD.

Local movement

The Kyoto → Osaka move is internal to this chapter; its route, date, accommodation continuity, and cost remain TBD and belong in this chapter's budget.

Departure and connection

This chapter owns the transfer from Osaka to Fukuoka, provisionally around February 5. Route, mode, fare, luggage, and timing remain TBD.

Preparation and open decisions

Confirm the Kyoto / Osaka split and accommodation, then plan the February transfer to Fukuoka.

Decision deadline: TBD. Review of dates, housing nights, budget arithmetic, transfer allocation, and travel-plan consistency remains pending.
